How To Manage Your Time & Energy As A Mom!

family mindset Aug 13, 2019

Learning how to manage your time & energy as a mom can help you get things done on time & also stay sane!

As a mom of 2 girls, I use to let the day run me, instead of me running the day! Then I found myself running around, trying to play catch up & trying to get back in better spirits!

We all know that morning time: run out the door anxiety that can stick with us through the rest of the day..NO THANK YOU!

Here are 5 Tips that will save you Time & your Energy as a busy mom!

Get things done the night before: This refers to packing lunches, laying clothes out, etc the night before! How simple is it when you have their clothes laid out ready to go instead of digging through drawers when you could be spending your time in a better way!

I find that when I have their lunches packed it not only saves me time, but I also am able to put more time & effort into their lunches! I am able to provide healthier choices, than just throwing a lunchable (that may not be so good for them) in the bag & running! Although.. We have all done that at one time or another! If you’re looking for lunch ideas I have some just for you HERE!

Write out your weekly game plan/daily to do’s: If I don’t make time Sunday to go through & plan out my week, I feel LOST!

Sit down on Sunday, open up your planner or virtual calendar at some point & look at your week ahead! This way you’re able to see what everyone has going on & that way you can plan accordingly!

Things you can plan are:
-Dinners for the week
-Kids activities
-Self care days
-Exercise
-Work days
-Phone calls
-Appointments

There’s a saying you’ve probably heard: “out of site, out of mind.” & It couldn’t be more true! Writing things down & seeing them will help keep you on top of what’s going on & what needs to be done!

As a business owner I have daily actions that I do as well that never really change (but can)! Things like: connecting with my fellow coaches, making new and real connections, interacting on posts & posting on social media.. (to name a few!) But, either way..planning my week ahead helps me stay ahead & keep up with EVERYTHING!

Practice Gratitude: As most of us have been to the point where we want to hide & cry because the kids are acting insane & we have a ton to get done.. There is something that helps me handle these situations.. I practice gratitude!

If you aren’t sure what that means exactly it’s this→ when you think of all the amazing things in your life.. Such as: having a roof over your head, healthy kids, food to eat, your own health, friends, family..the list can go on & on!

It really puts things into perspective when you aren’t feeling like things are going your way! It helps me get back to feeling SO MUCH BETTER..even in the midst of a temper tantrum from my youngest.. It works yall! Try it!

Get your workout on..in the morning: As a mom, it sometimes feels like our goals are a moving target & we can’t seem to hit it!

We want to lose the weight, feel better in the bathing suite, not feel like crap when our kid pokes our belly & asks: “what is that?”...

I feel ya! But, so often I speak to fellow moms who feel time is against them! But..like we talked about above..you have to schedule things into your day! What works best for me is getting up early, before the kids & getting a good 30 minute workout in! This is my current favorite workout right now!

When you get your workout in first thing there are some advantages:

-Normally you’re the only one up, so you get that time alone & can focus!
- Exercise helps with mental clarity, so it sets the mood for the day!
- You get it done & out of the way so you can use your focus on something else!
(to just name a few!!)

Make sure to take time for YOU! So often I find that the whole “self care” word is overused & under done!

For your energy & to help with how you show up as a mom, wife, friend and /or girl boss it’s so important that while you’re planning out your week/day to plug in some time for you!

Time for you can be just about anything: bubble bath, reading a book, meditation, seeing friends, doing your nails...basically whatever makes you happy & puts the wind back in your sails when you feel like you have nothing left to give.. But hopefully you’re practicing this every day or so that you don’t get to that point!

What do you think of these 5 tips? Do you already do these things? I’d love to know what type of things you do to keep up with being a mom!

XOXO- Tamara
