The Hamster Wheel of Health Self-Sabotage

fitness mindset Mar 11, 2021

Hey there friend, you may not know this about me, but I’m a recovering perfectionist. πŸ™ˆ But not the kind that needs everyone else to be perfect… just me. You know the type? πŸ˜…

The truth is, I used to be really hard on myself. Like reallyyyy hard on myself. πŸ˜…

There used to be something inside me that allowed me to dish out all the compliments and inspiration to literally anyone I came across, except for myself.

“You look amazing in that dress!” πŸ‘—

“You’re down 2 pounds this week? You rock!!” πŸ’ͺ

And while I always mean the compliments that I give out, there was not one single time that I could compliment myself and actually believe it. I was the Queen of Negative Self-Talk. πŸ‘‘

“This dress is just way too tight and my bloated belly makes me look like I’m entering the second trimester” πŸ˜–

“I’ve been working out for almost a month and the scale hasn’t moved. What’s the point?” πŸ˜•

It wasn’t until I started focusing on my mindset, setting goals (both big and small) in all areas of my life, and creating a clear “why” for living a healthy lifestyle, that I finally started accepting myself. ✨I

I started telling myself all the things I loved about my body and how I looked in my clothes before jumping to self-criticism. I started reminding myself why I was choosing to eat healthier and exercise before obsessing over the number on the scale or the size of my jeans. πŸ™…  Here's me a few months postpartum to one year later - because this process WORKS

The truth is, you’re never going to be happy with where you’re at if you never allow yourself to be. πŸ‘ˆ  Go back and read that again. 😏

If you’re constantly in a state of telling yourself, “I’m not doing enough. I’m not losing enough weight. I’m not skinny enough,” you’re going to be riding that hamster wheel forever. πŸ™ˆ

Take it from someone who has experience -- that shizz is exhausting. πŸ™ˆ

The overall goal can’t be a number or size. It’s gotta be happiness, confidence, and self-acceptance. β™‘ And every little thing you do along the way that helps you get to those things is SO important. It’s what makes your journey, YOUR journey!

I know you’re probably sitting there thinking - “Easier said than done, Tamara!” πŸ‘†

😐 I ain’t tryin’ to fool anybody! It’s WAY easier said than done. πŸ˜‰  But you know what? It’s so gosh darn worth it!!

I’m going to give you all the tools I have that finally helped me get to self-love, self-confidence, and self-acceptance. No, it wasn’t easy, I’ll be the first to admit that. 😜  But you know what’s harder? Waking up every day and feeling unhappy, uncomfortable, and unsettled. πŸ’”

You are beautiful. You are strong. And you are enough. Don’t ever let anyone tell you differently - especially YOU!!! 😘I

If you’d like to get your hands on some of the tips and tools I used to finally get off that self-sabotage hamster wheel, say “I am enough!”  And fill out that form linked above (or below)πŸ‘ˆ

Kinda cheesy to say out loud, I know. 😏 But part of getting somewhere you’ve never been, is doing something you’ve never done.

P.S. If any of this resonated with you, you’re definitely gonna want to join my next challenge group!! I’ve got men & women in there who are working to get off that same hamster wheel I was on! πŸ’ͺπŸ’œ  Are you on it, too?  - Then request more information about joining in here:
