Side Hustle as a Working Mom or SAHM

coaching Aug 28, 2019
You can read or you can watch <3
But I know this will help you!

So many women I know what to have a 'side hustle' something that gives them that extra spending money to go get a blow out or ship at Target w/o your husband asking you about it all bc hey girl you worked hard and earned something extra.

There's also those women that don't want a side hustle, they want a real full on business that can take over previous corporate income they had before becoming a sahm OR to begin to earn them that income NOW so they can quit their full-time gig and stop paying the baby sitters or rely on grandparents to pick up the kids after school.

1. BE SCHEDULED
You have to make use of your alone time & schedule shit out as a mom - for most, this is either morning time or evening. I personally cannot work in the evenings, my brain is fried, I'm done. But i have teammates who are fired up each evening to get to work. And we have some who HAVE to work during the evenings after kids are in bed or early in the morning before work and before kids are up and on lunch breaks bc they are working full time. You'll hustle for what's important to you. And Communicate this time to your spouse, the last thing you want to do is have him going into your usual Tuesday TV night and you pulling out your phone and computer ready to work. Major communication problem there and it won't just hurt you're marriage but it'll hurt your business.

2. Talk to your family about what you're doing.
Talk to your kids about what you are doing. Don't just work on your phone in front of your kids. Talk to them about why you are working and what it will help your family do (this is great for your spouse as well). Let them have some buy in.  Mine last year was mom is going to set a 20 minute timer on Alexa and get this email done and answer a few messages because this is part of my job to help us earn that money so we can vacation at the beach next year.  So play for 20 minutes, when the Alexa timer goes off, I'm done! AND BE DONE - you yourself HAVE to learn to stop when you say you will or your family will stop believing in what you are telling them you're doing.

3.  You HAVE to take care of yourself. Honestly, I'm lucky AF that my side hustle is one in wellness so this just happens to be a major priority for not just myself but for my business. I like to think I get paid to be my healthiest!  BUT I, and you still have to take care of not just our physical health, but mental health too. You NEED to find books that pour into you, and bc you're a busy mom, you probably need them on Audible to listen to in the car. My kids get their kids CD playing in the back of the car and I have an earbud in one ear with a growth podcast episode or recently downloaded audio book on Audible. If you really struggle with taking time for yourself, I encourage you to try my mornings practice - I know you'll start to feel differently immediately.

4. Become disciplined.
this is a photo of how I DO NOT like to work - but sometimes you have to make communication clear as a mom, wife, friend etc what you're available for and what you are not - and discipline yourself to get things done when you say you will!

Yes you have to discipline yourself in a few area. First, you have to discipline your focus. You have to learn that if you are home with your kids, you got them both down for naps, and it's BUSINESS TIME - then it's business time bc momma you only have another hour, maybe 2 before they are up!  Do not fold laundry, do the dishes, hell I don't even really want you doing training during this time - I want you working on your IPA, income producing activities. So this is the second area of discipline. Stay focused and have a list of people you were supposed to follow up with that had talked to you about your product or team, a list of people that you have been making as your having conversations of who you'd love to work with, and a list of ideas for what you need to do next to grow your business and tackle it...do you need to get some good posts up on social media, or do you need to sign up for participating in an event like a craft fair or volunteering somewhere where your name will get out there, do you need to expand your social media, do you need to write a blog post or reach out to a local business or fellow entrepreneur you're wanting to collaborate with, do you have a phone call with your upline or a scheduled call with someone interested in joining you in this business, schedule that out, write this stuff down and see which should you tackle and tackle at least one a day.

5. Take time off. Yes seriously - wait what?! I thought if I was going to have a side hustle I needed to HUSTLE - yes boo, you do, but you also need to have un-plugged time.  I have almost always unplugged from my business every single Friday evening - I'm off frm about 4-7, check back in for 30 min to wrap anything up, and them phone & computer are away for date night in - we've done this almost every Friday since 2015 when we started this business, and now it's bled into what we do every Saturday as well
